What Does It Do?
Mountain Duck lets you mount server and cloud storage as a local disk in Finder on macOS and File Explorer on Windows. It allows you to open, edit, and manage remote files using any local application without the need to manually download or upload them via a web browser.Key Features
- Smart Synchronization: Files are downloaded on-demand and cached locally. This saves significant disk space while maintaining access to all your cloud data.
- Integrated Connect Mode: Leverages native OS APIs (Cloud Files API on Windows) to allow searching remote files via Windows Search or Spotlight.
- Encryption: Supports Cryptomator for transparent, client-side encryption of your data before it reaches the cloud.
- Background Uploads: Changes made to files are automatically synced to the server in the background as soon as you save them.
- Version 5.2.1 Specifics: Includes refined Azure protocol support, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for AWS S3 (STS), and enhanced system tray/status bar icons.
How to Use It?
- Installation: Install the application (typically an MSIX package on Windows).
- Create Connection: Click the plus (+) icon or "New Bookmark" in the application menu.
- Choose Service: Select your provider (e.g., FTP, SFTP, S3, Google Drive, Azure).
- Authentication: Enter your credentials or link your account via OAuth.
- Mount: Once connected, your storage will appear as a Drive Letter (Windows) or a Network Volume (macOS). You can now drag and drop files just like a USB flash drive.
